Evan Baker

Business Chief Risk Officer – Financial Services
Capital One

Evan is the Business Chief Risk Officer for the Financial Services division of Capital One. Evan has been with Capital One since 2015 and all of his time has been leading teams and working in various parts of Capital One’s auto-finance business. Prior to becoming the risk officer for the division, Evan served as Chief Counsel for the Financial Services division for 3 years. 

Before joining Capital One, Evan was a corporate bankruptcy lawyer for an AmLaw 100 law firm representing corporate debtors and creditors in restructuring and insolvency proceedings. Evan also spent a year in Tallahassee (home of T-Pain and Florida) clerking for the chief bankruptcy judge in the Northern District of Florida.  

In addition to his role at Capital One, Evan is a board member on the Executive Board for the American Financial Services Association. 

A native Texan, Evan currently lives in Dallas with his wife, Lindsey. They’ve been married for 19 years and Evan convinced her to move from the Bay Area in California to Dallas! Lindsey and Evan have 3 kids – Blair (11), Edie (9), and Wyatt (8) as well as an English labrador named Bingo. When not working, Evan is playing with his kiddos, golfing, or training for a bunch of endurance sports. Evan says he is like a golden retriever and just has to be active outside. He’s a 2-time Ironman, 4-time Boston qualifier and has competed in over 15 marathons with a current goal of completing all of the 6 world-major marathons! 

 Evan is also a member of the Church of the Incarnation where he serves on the Vestry as well as other leadership positions in various ministries to serve the working poor. In addition to church, Evan has served various nonprofits ranging from community transformation throughout Dallas to preservation of architecturally significant residences.
